Schedule the public holidays and non-working days for your company in 2023.

In 2018, the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala, through Decree Number 19-2018, reformed the Law Promoting Internal Tourism in Guatemala, stating: "with the aim of promoting domestic tourism, when a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday, the immediate preceding Monday will be observed as a holiday, and if it falls on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, the immediate following Monday will be observed as a holiday."

However, on April 16, 2020, the Constitutional Court (CC) invalidated the possibility of changing the dates for May 1st and October 20th holidays. Therefore, the law only applies to June 30th.

What is the difference between a "Feriado" (public holiday) and an "Asueto" (non-working day)? An "Asueto" is established by a national authority, such as the President of the nation or a municipal authority, among other alternatives. A "Feriado" is determined by a law that arises from legislative debate and is established as such.
